This is the e-portfolio for ENC2135-105 at Florida State University. This will display the works accomplished throughout the semester. My hopes are that this will better display my work as I progress as a writer.
Rhetoric & Grooming - Paper 1
This is our work on rhetoric and how it relates to a group or genre that we feel apart of. I choose the field of dog grooming to elaborate on. It demonstrates my strong knowledge of rhetoric and tone, as I describe the benefits and issues that a rhetorical situation presents in this field. Sometimes, I don’t know when the use of “you” can become confusing, so I edited my paper to more clearly state who my “you” audience is. Another issue I struggle with knowing how or when to conclude my paper. I always write it based upon when I feel my thesis has been fully supported, yet I can confuse how to go about representing that information in a way that doesn’t sound repetitive. Overall, I am very proud of the work I created here and love that I was able to use my two favorite hobbies of writing and grooming in an academic sense.
Rhetoric, Genre & Dog Fostering - Paper 2
Overall, this project was a little more challenging as it was tedious. I found that creating a thesis to support was the most vital step as it created the backbone for my paper. Yet it also was the reason for some inconsistencies in which my work can sometimes offer conflicting information. That just means I attempted to elaborate on more and found new information to be more valuable to my thesis. I support that idea by explaining that my thesis has changed based on the information present and continue to support it in the following paragraphs. Another thing, I found challenging in my work was making sure my sources were valid and academic. Lastly, in my revisions, I find that using quotes that flow in your paragraph structure is also very important. I was able to play around with how I wanted this paper to be organized and I think that, in the end, proved very successful in relation to the flow of the paper as a whole. If the ideas aren’t organized, you’re almost wasting your time. Yet, despite its difficulties. This new challenge of a project helped me grow as a writer in a multifaceted way.
